Reading and writing are at the heart of every subject in school—and the earlier children master these skills, the more successful and confident they become in the classroom and beyond.

At Excel, our Phonics and Writing Summer Programs are specially designed for K–5 students. Whether your child is learning to decode their first words or refining grammar and writing structure, these small-group classes will give them a strong foundation and a love of language.

🧠 Why Early Literacy Matters

Phonics instruction and structured writing practice are key to developing strong literacy. According to the National Reading Panel, systematic phonics instruction significantly improves children’s reading comprehension, spelling, and fluency—especially when combined with daily reading and writing.

By participating in a summer literacy program, students avoid the dreaded “summer slide” and return to school confident and prepared.

📖 Phonics & Reading (Grades K–2)

These onsite, small-group classes are designed to help early readers build phonemic awareness, sound-letter knowledge, and decoding skills—using fun, interactive methods like games, read-alouds, and hands-on activities.

📆 June 2 – August 2 (8 weeks)
📍 Onsite Only (Max 5 students/class)

Grades K–1: Mon/Wed 10:00am – 11:00am
Grades 1–2: Mon/Wed 11:00am – 12:00pm
💵 Tuition: $590 for 8 weeks

✍️ Intensive Grammar & Writing (Grades 5–8)

Writing clearly and correctly takes practice—and the earlier students learn to organize thoughts, write with clarity, and use grammar intentionally, the more equipped they’ll be for middle school, high school, and beyond.

📍 Onsite or Online (Max 6 students/class)
📆 June 2 – August 3 (8 weeks)

Grades 5–6: Tue/Thu 12:30pm – 2:00pm
Grades 7–8: Mon/Fri 10:00am – 11:30am
💵 Tuition: $890 for 8 weeks
